All About Cadence: Dress Up

Cadence really loves to dress up. She likes to dress up in her own clothes, a lot, picking out her favorites and taking things on and off, but she also loves to wear mom and dad's clothes, too!

Here are just a few samples:

We were getting ready for an 80's themed birthday party. Cadence would try on a lot of my discards as I went through. She picked out her dress shoes all by herself to wear!

Now she's trying out Uncle Theo's tennis shoes, which he's airbrushed. Pretty slick!

And, on the same day, a pair of grandpa's boots and grandma's hat. I wanted to post a really adorable picture of Cadence dressed up in laundry (she dug through a clean basket), but Brandon made me promise I wouldn't publicize it--she's wearing, for the most part, a variety of Brandon's undergarments.

So instead, I'll end with this one. Cadence, all dressed up in a swim diaper after our trip to Vegas! She sure looks proud!

All About Elise: Passion for Reading

One thing I have a huge passion for is reading--and books in general. In fact, if I had to say I like to collect one thing, I'd say it is books. Seriously! I love the feel and smell of a new book, and I love the look of full bookshelf. Look at our living room:

I read all different kinds of books. Really. I love classics, like Austen and Dickens.

I love contemporary classics, like On the Beach or Brave New World.

I love modern novels, like Water for Elephants.

I love children's literature, from CS Lewis to Rick Riordan (Percy Jackson). I love Harry Potter.

I love popular teen novels, like The Hunger Games.

Right now I'm reading a memoir, Through My Eyes (Tim Tebow).

I even love children's books, and Cadence and I love to read together! She will tote a book around just so we can sit down anywhere are read it!

The "Plan"

Okay, so I've been thinking a lot about how to approach this. See, I don't want this blog to replace our family blog. We have a family blog, which I like to update with things we've been up to lately. The purpose of this blog is to provide information about us and hopefully let a birth-mom get to know us better.

So I've decided, because we're actively trying to adopt again, I am going to [try] to update this blog weekly with a sort of "tidbit" about us. In fact, I'll try to rotate, as applicable--Brandon, me, Cadence, and maybe even the dogs, or even something about our family as a whole. Like little human interest pieces, tailor-made to get to know the Millers better!

So I'm starting this weekend, and I'll kick of with myself...

News!

So we turned in our adoption paperwork today!! It doesn't mean we're all the way there yet--we still have the home study and all that other paperwork, but we're jumping back in! I'm hoping to have it all done ASAP! Hopefully something wonderful comes out of it!
